The 2024 4-H Chick Chain Project is gearing up for registration on Tuesday, February 13. This year, youth have the opportunity to sign up for 12, 16, or 25 Black-Sex Link or Red-Sex Link pullets, with the birds set to arrive in early spring. To secure their participation, a deposit is required, the amount of which depends on the number of pullets chosen. After approximately 20 weeks, participants can bring 6 of their pullets to the 4-H Poultry Show and Auction. If these pullets are sold at the auction, the deposit will be refunded, and the remaining birds can be kept. The registration event will take place at 6 p.m. on February 13 at the Lawrence County Extension office, situated at 2385 Buffalo Road.
