In the wake of serious allegations against a traveling veterinarian, more individuals are stepping forward with claims of sexual abuse. Gregory Ford, a 52-year-old who runs a mobile equine veterinary service, is currently incarcerated in a Marion County, Florida jail. His arrest last week was prompted by accusations of sexual battery involving a minor in Lauderdale County, Alabama. A criminal complaint has surfaced detailing Ford’s purported sexual involvement with a young employee from Florence, Alabama.
The case has drawn significant attention, particularly as attorney Spencer Kuvin, who has represented victims in notable cases such as those involving Jeffrey Epstein, Bill Cosby, and Hugh Hefner, has taken on the representation of the teenage girl. Authorities are investigating the possibility that Ford may have victimized as many as 15 young women, aged between 15 and 20, across several states.
The investigation commenced in August when the victim’s mother stumbled upon explicit messages and photographs on her daughter’s phone. Just a day prior to his arrest, Ford allegedly sent a threatening communication to the girl’s mother, heightening concerns about his behavior. The victim, who began working for Ford at the age of 15 and is now 17, has publicly stated that their relationship was characterized by manipulation and abuse, rather than consent. She revealed that Ford had ingratiated himself with her family by attending church and engaging with relatives, which allowed him to gain her trust.
Investigators have noted that Ford reportedly sent similar messages to other alleged victims, making each one feel as though they were uniquely targeted. Ford’s initial court appearance regarding the charges in Florida is set for this week, and it is anticipated that federal charges may follow, potentially encompassing the threats made against the mother in Lauderdale County. Authorities, along with Kuvin and the first victim, are encouraging any additional victims to come forward to ensure that justice is served.
