Authorities in Lawrence County apprehended a woman following a traffic stop that revealed illegal substances, paraphernalia, and a firearm. The incident began when a Jeep Grand Cherokee, operated by Thomas Buie, was seen failing to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Buffalo Road and Ethridge Redhill Road. Instead of halting, the vehicle merely slowed to approximately 10 mph before proceeding through the intersection. In response, law enforcement activated their patrol lights and pursued the Jeep until it finally came to a stop at the junction of Buffalo Road and Henryville Road.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers discovered that Buie was driving with a suspended license. However, his female passenger, identified as Rebecca Lynn McIntyre, was found to possess a valid driver’s license. During the course of the traffic stop, law enforcement recovered a Ruger handgun from the driver’s side floorboard. Following this, a consensual search of the vehicle uncovered several items, including wax paper containing a waxy substance suspected to be THC wax, a THC wax kit, a used syringe, two metal spoons with burn marks, a green leafy substance, and a white crystal-like substance that was later identified as methamphetamine. Subsequent testing confirmed that one of the waxy substances did not contain Fentanyl.
In a bid to conceal evidence, McIntyre allegedly attempted to discard a bag containing methamphetamine by throwing it into a nearby field. As a result, she was arrested on multiple charges, including tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and simple possession of controlled substances. Meanwhile, Buie received a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign and was subsequently released to make his way to a family member’s residence.
Following her arrest, McIntyre was taken to the Lawrence County Jail, where she was booked on four outstanding warrants, which included charges for tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of controlled substances. All items seized during the incident, including the firearm and the drug-related evidence, were secured by law enforcement officials.
