A man from Athens has been charged with the murder of his stepson, as reported by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office. The accused, 63-year-old Michael Stephen Esposito, is currently facing serious legal repercussions following the tragic incident. According to jail records, he has been formally charged with murder.
The events unfolded on Friday evening around 7 p.m., when deputies were dispatched to a shooting that occurred in the 17000 block of Kelley Drive in Athens. Upon their arrival, law enforcement officials found the lifeless body of Todd Robert Jennett, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Esposito was present at the scene when authorities arrived. Following the initial response, investigators from the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office commenced a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Preliminary reports suggest that a verbal confrontation between Jennett and Esposito escalated into violence. During this heated exchange, it is alleged that Esposito retrieved a firearm and shot Jennett several times. Law enforcement officials apprehended Esposito at the scene without any complications, and he was subsequently taken to the Limestone County Jail. He is currently being held in custody as he awaits an Aniah’s Law hearing, which is expected to be scheduled in the near future.
