Barbara Ann Tidwell, 86, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away on August 30th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on November 29th, 1938, to William and Ruble Blackwood in Grassy, AL, Barbara dedicated many years to working at Sears before retiring to become a full-time Mama B to her adoring grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, watching her grandchildren play sports, and spending time with her family and friends. Barbara was a devoted member of New Prospect Community Church and had a deep love for her Lord.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Coach Glenn Tidwell; brother, Robert Blackwood; great-granddaughter, Emmy Bea Markus; and nephew, Brian Amos. She is survived by her children, Laura Benson (Bobby), Mark Tidwell (Crystal), and Stacie McFall (Nakia); siblings, James Blackwood, Brenda Amos, and Ralph Blackwood (Cindy); and six grandchildren, Abby Markus (Zach), Bobby Benson III, Spencer Tidwell (Lauren), Avery Tidwell (Julie), Bryson McFall, and Aniston McFall.
The family extends deep gratitude to the caregivers who provided exceptional care and love to Barbara throughout the past year. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Prospect Community Church building fund. Visitation will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home on September 2nd, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home on September 3rd, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with Brother Chris Blalock officiating. Interment will be held at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens. Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family at this time.
