Karen Benefield, an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) with the Lawrence County Emergency Medical Service, has been honored as the 2025 AEMT of the Year. This recognition was bestowed upon her by the South Central EMS Director’s Association during their annual Last Chance Conference. Benefield’s dedication to her role is evident, as she marks nearly three decades—29 years—of service in the emergency medical field.
In addition to Benefield’s commendation, the Lawrence County EMS also saw another of its members, Paramedic Michael Wright, nominated for the prestigious 2025 Paramedic of the Year award. This acknowledgment highlights the commitment and professionalism exhibited by the team at Lawrence County EMS, showcasing their contributions to the community and the field of emergency medical services.
