In the early hours of Sunday morning, a significant fire broke out at the Turtle Point Yacht Club Marina, resulting in the destruction of two yachts. Emergency services received reports of a blaze involving a 65-foot yacht around 7 AM and promptly dispatched personnel to the scene. Upon their arrival, responders discovered that not only was the initial yacht ablaze, but the fire had also spread to a second vessel, threatening additional boats in the vicinity.
Fire crews quickly took action to mitigate the situation by removing the burning yacht from the dock to prevent further exposure to the flames. In the process, they successfully evacuated several individuals who were aboard nearby vessels, ensuring their safety. The fire on the second yacht was brought under control, and firefighters utilized approximately 15 gallons of foam to completely extinguish the remaining flames on the primary yacht.
A coordinated response involved multiple fire departments, including those from Mid Lauderdale, Center Star, and Greenhill, as well as Florence Fire and Rescue, Muscle Shoals Fire and Rescue, and the Rogersville Fire Department. Additionally, the Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency provided support, working alongside the Alabama Marine Police, Lifeguard EMS, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, and the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office. The cause of this destructive fire is currently under investigation, as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
