Bobbie Jean Williams Kimbrell, 91, passed away on November 21, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 19, 1934, in a coal mining camp near Jasper, Alabama, and was raised as the only child of Arlie and Gracie (Guthrie) Williams. At age 21, she married Coleman Earl Kimbrell, with whom she raised four children and celebrated sixty-five years of marriage.
Bobbie was a dedicated mother and homemaker, known for her inventive cooking, love of reading, and creative pursuits. She pursued higher education while managing her household and eventually had a successful career as a psychometrist for the Lauderdale County School System. She was a member of the National Association of School Psychologists and made a significant impact on the lives of over two thousand children through her work.
After retirement, Bobbie and Coleman traveled extensively, visiting over a dozen countries and capturing their experiences in meticulous diaries. She had a deep appreciation for beauty and collected various items from her travels. Bobbie was also a lifelong member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ and was involved in various community activities.
Bobbie is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The family expresses deep appreciation to those who provided care and support during her final year.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, with visitation at 10:00 AM and a service at 11:00 AM at Elkins Funeral Home, followed by a graveside prayer at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
