In a tragic incident on Wednesday afternoon, a 21-year-old individual, identified as Keil McCoy from Indiana, jumped into the Tennessee River in the Eagle Point area. However, he did not resurface, prompting a call to Colbert County 911 around 2:12 PM. Emergency personnel swiftly responded to the scene.
McCoy’s friends, with whom he was visiting in the Shoals area, were with him at the time as they were out swimming. A dive team was deployed to search for McCoy, and less than three hours later, his body was found about 20 feet away from where he had jumped into the river.
The discovery of McCoy’s body brought a somber conclusion to the search efforts, shedding light on the dangers that can accompany recreational activities in natural bodies of water. The community mourns the loss of a young life in this unfortunate incident.
