Yesterday, Lawrence County Fire and Rescue were kept on their toes as they responded to multiple calls throughout the day. The incidents included a high-priority medical call in the Henryville area just after midnight, a track hoe fire in the southeast area before noon, and a suspicious device call in the same district around 4 pm. The latter required the assistance of the Florence Police Department Explosive Devices Unit, who successfully secured the area.
Later in the evening, at around 9:30, crews were called to a sawmill fire in the Summertown district, followed by another large sawmill fire in the Ethridge Fire District at approximately 10:30. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions and the involvement of two 500-gallon diesel fuel tanks on site. However, due to an aggressive fire attack and a large-scale water shuttle operation, the fire was swiftly brought under control.
