Carrol “Dean” Konig

Carrol “Dean” Konig, born on January 4, 1939, in the Revilo community of Leoma, Tennessee, passed away on June 2, 2025, at Life Care Center of Columbia. Dean was a dedicated carpenter and proud veteran of the United States military, having served in the Marine Corps and the Army National Guard before retiring at the rank of Sergeant, First Class. He was an avid outdoorsman with a deep fondness for horses, farming, and hunting.

Dean is survived by his four daughters, Tammy Davenport, Kim Brite, Patricia Mashburn (David), and Denise Conners (Robert); his brothers Kenneth, James, Larry, Ted, and Steve; his sisters Sulynn Nelson, Beverly Davenport, Debby Dial, Ernestine Curtis, and Annette Long. Also, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lucille Konig; his wife of 51 years, Joyce Ann (Judy) Konig; his brothers Gene, Dewey, and Gerry Wayne Konig; his sisters Betty Konig Shrader and Patricia Konig Bruhn, and two sons-in-law Ricky Davenport and David Brite.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 5, 2025, with Kevin Foster officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to Ethridge Elementary School Library.

Dean’s life was filled with love and compassion, and his caretakers Beth Flewallen and Pat Martin are thanked for making his final chapter comfortable and filled with care. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
