Center Point Fire and Rescue Achieves Success Through Grant Funding

Center Point Fire and Rescue has achieved remarkable success in securing funding through grants over the past two years, totaling an impressive $127,000. This financial support has facilitated significant upgrades to their equipment and enhanced their operational capabilities. As a recognized 501(c)(3) organization, Center Point Fire and Rescue is eligible to apply for grants from various businesses and private foundations, which has proven to be a vital resource for the department.

Among the notable grants received, a $7,500 contribution from Enbridge was allocated for the acquisition of new radios, while a $500 grant from the TVA’s “Dollars 4 Does” program further bolstered their resources. Additionally, the department was awarded $46,000 from FEMA, which was instrumental in purchasing a washer and dryer, as well as a new skid unit for their operations.

The funding has also been utilized to enhance their Rescue Squad and Volunteer Fire Equipment and Training funds. This included the repair of an air compressor, which is essential for replenishing SCBA tanks, at a cost of $56,000, along with an upgrade to their rescue air bags, which amounted to $7,500. Notably, these improvements benefit not only Center Point Fire and Rescue but also neighboring departments, which have access to the newly acquired washer/dryer and air compressor.

The importance of these grants cannot be overstated for this small department, and they extend their heartfelt gratitude to the community and all supporters for their ongoing assistance.
