Charles Edward Hughes

Charles Edward Hughes, Sr. passed away on February 23, 2025, at the age of 86 in Summertown, TN. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of faith and love.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Brenda J. Hughes, and his children: Charles E. Hughes, Jr., Norman L. Hughes, and R. Denise Old. He is also remembered by his two stepsons, Christopher E. Kammerer and Jeremy R. Kammerer, as well as his numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Charles is also survived by his brother, Delmar Travis Hughes, and his sister, Linda Faye Smith, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A veteran of the United States Army, Charles served with honor and dedication in the 1960s. He worked at Murry Ohio in Lawrence County in the 1950s and later retired after thirty years with Foundry Caterpillar. Charles was also a missionary, sharing the love of God in Haiti and across the USA. He was known for his selfless nature, always willing to help others in need.

Charles was a born-again Christian and his faith was evident in his actions and interactions with others. He was a man of God who dedicated his life to serving his community, friends, and family. His passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
