Charles W. “Charlie” Holt Jr., 74, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He was born on January 4, 1951, to Charles W. (“Big Charlie”) and Nell Holt. Charlie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha, his children Catherine (“Cassie”) Holt and Charles W. (“Trey”) Holt, III, and his sisters Nelda Graham, Laura Haynes, and Sara Jane Margraf. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Charlie dedicated nearly five decades to practicing law and serving the people of Lawrence County and Middle Tennessee. He was a respected and principled counselor, known for his steady guidance and commitment to his community. His service extended beyond private practice, as he also served as County Attorney for Lawrence County for over 30 years and was an active member of various bar associations.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Charlie was a devoted family man and friend. He cherished time with his loved ones and valued simple moments spent at home. He was known for his unflappable nature, principled character, and unfailing courtesy.
Before his legal career, Charlie left a mark at Middle Tennessee State University as a four-year starter for the Blue Raiders football team. His leadership, toughness, and dedication on the field were qualities that he carried into his lifetime of service to his clients, colleagues, and community.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, and funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to the Christian Home or the Lawrence County Education Foundation.
Charlie’s life leaves a lasting imprint on Lawrence County, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
