Child in Ardmore, Alabama Urgently Seeks Life-Saving Kidney Donation

In Ardmore, Alabama, a young boy named Ruger Ennis is facing a significant health challenge and is in urgent need of support. At just eight years old, Ruger is described as a cheerful and spirited child who yearns to experience life like his peers. Unfortunately, he is battling end-stage kidney disease and requires a kidney transplant to improve his condition. Ruger has been diagnosed with nail patella syndrome, a rare disorder that not only affects kidney function but also leads to skeletal issues. These include the unusual positioning of his feet, which bend backward, and the absence of kneecaps at birth.

Currently, Ruger undergoes dialysis treatment three times a week, spending three hours each session, while he temporarily resides in Birmingham for medical care. Recently, Ruger shared a touching moment with his mother, who was encouraged to reach out to Make-a-Wish. She asked him what his greatest wish would be, to which he replied, “I want to go to Disneyland and get a new kidney.” Medical experts indicate that Ruger’s best opportunity for a successful transplant lies in finding a living donor with either O-positive or O-negative blood types. If a suitable donor is found soon, he could potentially receive a transplant within the next two to three months. However, if he has to rely on the national waiting list, the process could extend to nearly a year.
