In a concerning incident, a 3-year-old boy from Greenhill suffered a gunshot wound to his leg on Thursday evening. The emergency response team quickly arrived at a residence on County Road 390 shortly after 7 p.m. Upon assessment, it was revealed that the child had been injured by a 9mm handgun, resulting in a “through-and-through” wound near his knee.
Reports indicate that the young boy had come across the firearm in a door pocket of a relative’s vehicle. The gravity of the situation prompted the decision to airlift the child to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. There, he underwent surgery the following day as part of his treatment.
This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of firearm safety, especially when it comes to keeping weapons out of reach of children. The family is undoubtedly going through a difficult time, and our thoughts are with them as they navigate this challenging situation.
