City of Columbia Awarded Grant for Healthy Built Environments Initiative

The City of Columbia has been awarded a $50,000 grant under the Healthy Built Environments (HBE) initiative, and the city is eager to engage with residents to gather their insights on the proposed plan. The input from the community will play a crucial role in shaping initiatives that focus on enhancing walkability, creating vibrant public spaces, and strengthening community connections.

To facilitate this dialogue, the city is organizing an open house-style forum where residents can share their thoughts and suggestions. This gathering marks the first step in advancing the East Columbia Small Area Plan, which aims to implement specific projects designed to improve the overall quality of life, accessibility, and health for the community.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, January 28th, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and will take place at the Dr. Christa S Martin Community Center, located in Fairview Park at 871 Iron Bridge Road. Residents are encouraged to attend and contribute to this important conversation about the future of their community.
