Clarence Grimes Nix, born on July 15, 1934, in Giles County, TN, peacefully passed away on April 28, 2025, after bravely battling heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease. He was the beloved son of Ona Smith Nix and Clarence C. Nix of Lawrenceburg, TN. Clarence was a dedicated husband to Marjorie L. Rinks, and a loving father to their children: Jeffrey A. Nix, M.D., and Debbie Nix Lively, PharmD. He was also a cherished grandfather to 8 grandchildren.
Clarence was a distinguished professional, having worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at Maremont Corporation and later as Chief Accountant at Continental Life Insurance Company. He was a graduate of Lawrence County High School and held an Associate Degree in accounting from Lawrence Institute of Technology. Clarence was an avid sports enthusiast, excelling in football and baseball, and was awarded the Rotary Club’s Most Valuable Football Player Trophy in 1952.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, water skiing, and snow skiing, and cherished his time living on Wheeler Lake, Rogersville, AL. Clarence was a member of Farragut Church of Christ and was deeply involved in his community.
Clarence is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother, sisters, sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, and a memorial service will be conducted on May 10, 2025, with Steve Inman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Clarence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
