Colbert County Experiences Weekend Warehouse Blaze

Over the weekend, a significant commercial structure fire prompted a response from members of at least 18 different fire departments. The incident occurred at the Essity warehouse located in Barton, with emergency personnel arriving at the scene around 4:45 AM on Saturday morning. Upon their arrival, firefighters were met with visible flames that had already breached the roof of the facility.

According to reports from The Times Daily, the warehouse housed multi-ton reams of tissue paper, which are produced on-site for various products. Fire crews worked diligently throughout the day to combat the blaze and ensure the safety of the surrounding area. Fortunately, all employees—approximately 545 individuals—were present at the time of the fire and were successfully evacuated without incident.

As of now, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to this significant event.
