Victor Jerome Carver, III, a 37-year-old resident of Collinwood, has been formally charged in relation to the tragic death of his 17-year-old nephew, Caden Cantrelle, which occurred on July 6 in Jasper County, Mississippi. Caden had been granted a two-day leave by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services to spend time with his uncle. However, when he did not return as expected, his father took action by providing law enforcement with the last known location of Caden’s cell phone.
Authorities subsequently discovered Caden’s body in a ditch alongside a roadway, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise. The charges against Carver include failing to prevent his nephew from consuming fentanyl and methamphetamine, substances that ultimately led to Caden’s death. As a result of these allegations, Carver has been indicted on counts of negligent homicide and child endangerment in the state of Mississippi.
