The City of Columbia has successfully wrapped up the second session of its Columbia 101 program, designed to give residents an in-depth understanding of local government operations. On April 22nd and 23rd, a fresh cohort of participants gathered, eager to delve into the workings of their city. This initiative offers a dynamic learning experience, blending interactive seminars with behind-the-scenes tours and direct conversations with city officials, all aimed at illustrating the mechanisms of municipal services and empowering individuals to engage in community development.
Mayor Chaz Molder expressed his enthusiasm for the program, noting, “It’s truly rewarding to see Columbia 101 continue to provide our residents with an invaluable look behind the scenes of their city government. During this latest session, participants were introduced to the city’s twelve departments, which include Development Services, Fire & Rescue, and Public Works. They also had the chance to tour significant municipal buildings, gaining firsthand insight into the dedicated efforts necessary to deliver essential services to the community. Columbia 101 is set to continue its offerings twice a year, remaining accessible to residents of both Maury County and the City of Columbia.
