Recently, students had the opportunity to demonstrate the skills they developed during the seven-week Pre-Apprentice Lineworker Academy Mini-Rodeo, an event organized by the Columbia State Office of Workforce and Continuing Education. The competition showcased the hard work and dedication of the participants, with Bethany Lamon from Fayetteville taking home the top prize. Following her in second place was Cole McCafferty from Summertown, while Timothy Brown from Hohenwald secured third place in the overall standings.
Upon completing the rigorous program, these students earned several important certifications, including climbing credentials from the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association, as well as certifications in first aid and CPR, OSHA 10 with ET&D, and NSC flagger training. Additionally, they are now prepared to take the exam for their commercial driver’s license, further enhancing their qualifications for future employment in the field.
