Communications Workers of America Initiate Strike Action

Members of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) have officially initiated a strike, citing unfair labor practices by AT&T. This action commenced on August 16th, following the company’s failure to engage in good faith negotiations. The strike encompasses more than 17,000 workers, including technicians, customer service representatives, and other personnel responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of AT&T’s wireline telecommunications network, which serves both residential and business customers across several states.

The affected states include Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This week, striking workers have gathered in Lawrenceburg, specifically at the intersection of Gaines and North Locust Avenue, to voice their concerns and demands. Since June, these members of the CWA have been striving to secure a new contract, but their efforts have yet to yield a satisfactory resolution.
