The United Methodist Church in Columbia is set to provide relief from the heat by hosting cooling stations throughout the upcoming week. From Monday to Wednesday, and again on Friday, the church will open its doors to the public, offering a respite from the sweltering temperatures. Visitors are welcome to come in between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to enjoy the air-conditioned environment.
During these hours, attendees can also take advantage of complimentary cold water and snacks, while enjoying a selection of movies. The church is conveniently located at 222 West 7th Street in Columbia, making it easily accessible for those seeking a cool retreat.
On Thursday, an additional cooling station will be available at Riverwalk Park, in collaboration with Mobile Health, further extending the community’s options for staying cool during the heatwave.
