Cora Tennie Hughes Perry

Mrs. Cora Tennie Hughes Perry of Pulaski was born to the late Aaron and Lillian (Gothardt) Hughes in Nashville, Tennessee on July 19, 1937 and fell asleep in death on April 30, 2024.

Cora was the second of three children, Charles Aaron Hughes Jr, the oldest and John Lee Hughes (Margaret) her younger brother where they grew up on Jefferson Street in Nashville, Tn.

Cora was educated in the Nashville school system where she attended Pearl High School.

She married Nathaniel Perry on August 8, 1959. Together they raised five children.

In 1963, in support of her husband, Cora moved with the family from Nashville to Lafalotte,TN to Oak Ridge, TN and to Norfolk, Va in 1969. From there Nat and Cora moved to Carolina, PR and Guardalajara, Mexico, where they retired in 1993 and moved back to Pulaski, Tn. where she made her forever home.

She enjoyed traveling with her family and let no grass grow under her feet. Her favorite motto was “On the road again!”

Cora’s faith lead her to join Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.

Cora is survived by four children: Deborah (Dexter) Foye, Nathaniel (Laquita) Perry II, Jennifer (Melvin) Starks and Rowena Johnson; eight grandchildren, Corinne Howard,

Dr. Portia Johnson, Marcus Johnson, Lilian Marie Perry,

Dr. Omega (Nelson) Perry-Broderick, Nathaniel (Kristin) Perry III, Adam Lee Perry,

Dezmond Dante (Jacqueline) Perry; three great-grandchidren;

daughter-in-law Yolanda Perry and a host of nieces and nephews.

Public Viewing for Mrs. Cora Tennie Perry will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Jordan Funeral Home, 327 Mill Street, Pulaski, Tennessee.

Monday, May 6, 2024 Visitation will be held beginning 1:00pm until 2:00pm with the 2:00pm Funeral Service immediately following at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church,

644 Fall River Road, Goodspring, Tennessee.

Interment will be in Goodspring Cemetery on Fall River Road.
