A violent confrontation at a business in Frankewing on Friday evening led to the tragic death of one individual and the subsequent arrest of another. Authorities from the Giles County Sheriff’s Department received a call just prior to 10 p.m. regarding the incident, where they discovered that Douglas Winborn had suffered severe injuries that were deemed life-threatening.
In connection with the altercation, Justin Straw, who was also present during the incident, was taken into custody at the scene. Following the confrontation, Winborn was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for emergency treatment; however, he was later pronounced dead.
As a result of the events that unfolded, Straw has been charged with multiple offenses, including domestic assault, aggravated assault, and first-degree murder. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is ongoing, as officials work to gather more information.
