Doris Joan Newton, 81, of Ethridge, TN, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. She was a retired employee of Murray Ohio and a devoted member of New Salem Church of God. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Stanford and Mildred Hicks Higdon; her husband, Charles Edward Newton; daughter-in-law, Cyndi Newton; one sister, Margorie Newton; and one brother, Stanley Higdon. She is survived by her son, Terry Newton (Cindy) of Summertown, TN; daughters, Pam Burch (Charles) and Donna Hardy (Steve), both of Ethridge, TN; sister, Kathy James (David); six grandchildren, Brad Newton (Cheraka), J.C. Newton (Mandy), Hunter Burch (Courtney), Haylen Burch, Colby Dec, and Kalie Berak; ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Neal Funeral Home on Thursday, December 11, 2025, and at New Salem Church of God on Friday, December 12, 2025. Funeral services will be held at New Salem Church of God on Friday, December 12, 2025, with interment to follow at New Salem Cemetery in Summertown, TN.
