Dorothy Ealy McCord, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born on September 11, 1936, in Pulaski, Tennessee, Dorothy’s life was marked by her deep connection to family, community, and her vibrant zest for living. She was a proud graduate of Giles County High School and Martin Methodist College, where she cultivated her faith, kindness, and spirit of service.
Dorothy embraced city life in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she thrived in her work for the Azby Fund, a nonprofit family foundation. Her energy and enthusiasm were evident as she formed lasting friendships at the Ochsner Fitness Center and engaged in the city’s activities. In 2020, she relocated to Goodlettsville, Tennessee, to be near family and quickly became involved in her new community, enriching the lives of those around her through her infectious joy for life.
Dorothy’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, including her son Mike McCord (Nancy), daughter Valerie Thomason (Richard), granddaughter Allie (Phil), grandson Caspar, and great-grandchildren Henry and Hadley. She was preceded in death by her father, William Ealy; mother, Elizabeth Ealy; and brother, Max Ealy.
A brief graveside service to honor Dorothy’s life will be held at 11:00 am on March 22, 2025, at Maplewood Cemetery. Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Dorothy Ealy McCord.
