Elizabeth Jean Carrell Legg

Elizabeth Jean Carrell Legg, 96, of Decatur Alabama, passed away on Tuesday December 2, 2025, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born on November 10, 1929, in Lawrence County, to the late Otto Carrell and Bertha Standridge Carrell. Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her Christian home and delicious home-cooked meals. She was a faithful member of East End UMC and her cherished recipes will be passed on for generations to come.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kedrick Earl Legg, her son, Stephen Kedrick Legg, daughter, Melinda Kay Ashcraft, and great-granddaughter, Jaidyn Ashcaft; as well as her brothers, William “Bill” Carrell (Marjorie) and Otto Carrell Jr. (Orlene).

She is survived by her son, Brian Keith Legg (Pam), daughter-in-law, Mary Legg, son-in-law, Ken Ashcraft, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren who adored her. The family would like to express deep appreciation to NHC Healthcare in Moulton, Alabama, and Affinity Hospice for their love and care, as well as her cherished friend, Margurette Mammarelli.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10 AM to 11 AM, with the funeral following in the chapel at ROSELAWN Funeral Home in Decatur, Alabama. Pallbearers will be Dee Sadler, Charlie Burton, Dustin Ashcraft, Mark Ashcraft, Ken Ashcraft, and Josh Graham, with Levi English and Chance Overall serving as honorary pallbearers.
