Shelton Barnett, the Director of the Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency, has been dispatched to East Tennessee as of Friday to provide support to areas affected by Hurricane Helene. His primary focus will be on establishing Starlink communications in regions that have experienced a loss of cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity. In certain communities, this satellite-based technology represents the sole means of maintaining external communication following the devastating impact of the hurricane.
