Emergency Responders Called to New Prospect School for Unresponsive Individual in Car Rider Line

On Thursday, November 14th, a critical incident unfolded at New Prospect School, prompting a swift response from multiple emergency services, including the New Prospect Fire Department, Lawrence County EMS, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, and the Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency. The emergency call was triggered by a situation in which a patient was found unresponsive and not breathing in the car rider line.

Fortunately, school staff acted quickly, initiating CPR and utilizing an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) before the arrival of emergency responders. Their prompt actions played a crucial role in reviving the patient. When the Lawrence County EMS team reached the scene, they discovered that the patient had regained a pulse, a significant improvement given the circumstances. The decision was made to transport the individual via Air EVAC due to the seriousness of the cardiac arrest.

Upon arrival at Maury Regional Hospital, the patient underwent a successful heart catheterization procedure. While the individual is currently stable, they remain in serious condition. This incident underscores the vital importance of quick thinking and immediate action in emergencies, highlighting the life-saving techniques of CPR and defibrillation.
