Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision in Florence Claims One Life

A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, April 23rd, resulting in the death of a man from Florence, as reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. The victim, identified as 55-year-old Christopher K. Calvert, lost his life in a collision involving two vehicles. The accident took place when Calvert’s 2003 Ford Ranger struck a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer.

Emergency responders pronounced Calvert dead at the scene of the crash. Meanwhile, the driver of the Freightliner sustained injuries and was promptly transported to North Alabama Medical Center for medical attention. The collision unfolded around 3:00 PM on Alabama 20, near the 15-mile marker, situated approximately six miles west of Florence in Lauderdale County.

Authorities from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine the factors that led to this unfortunate event.
