On March 5th, a teacher of Driver’s Education and football coach at Fayetteville City Schools was taken into custody on allegations of rape. The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Fayetteville Police, which was initiated following a report of inappropriate conduct involving a staff member from Fayetteville High School and a student. The individual in question, Chris Edward Cagle, aged 55 and residing in Toney, faces four counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure. Following his arrest, Cagle was booked into the Lincoln County Jail but was subsequently released after posting a bond set at $40,000. Notably, he had submitted his resignation just a week prior to the charges being filed. Cagle is expected to appear in court for his arraignment on May 12th, 2025.
