Fire Alarm Blitz Honors Victims with Awareness Campaign

In recent years, the Lawrence County Fire Rescue and Lawrenceburg Fire Department have collaborated with the State Fire Marshal’s “Get Alarmed” initiative, offering free smoke alarms to households in Tennessee. This program, supported by grants, has been instrumental in saving numerous lives. The two departments were gearing up for an upcoming fire alarm blitz when a tragic fatal fire occurred in Lawrence County.

In light of this recent incident, both agencies have engaged with the Tennessee Fire Marshal’s office and the families of the victims to discuss organizing a special “Get Alarmed” blitz in honor of those who lost their lives in the fire. Joining forces with the Loretto Fire Department and Saint Joseph Fire Department, Lawrence County Fire Rescue and Lawrenceburg Fire Department will collaborate with the Tennessee Fire Marshal’s office to conduct a smoke alarm blitz in memory of Jackson Wissner, Elizabeth Brown, and Travis Wissner, who tragically perished in the recent home fire.

The primary objective of this blitz is to enhance safety and save lives by distributing functional smoke alarms to residents at no cost. The specific date for the blitz will be announced in the upcoming days, as these agencies work together to make a positive impact in the community and prevent future tragedies.
