Florence Arts and Museums is set to host a continuation of its popular Storytime at the Museum series with a special gathering on Friday, August 15, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This engaging event will take place at the renowned Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Rosenbaum House and is tailored for children aged 5 to 8. The focus of this session will be on the rich traditions found within Jewish culture.
Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a reading of the book “A Mezuzah on the Door,” authored by Janice Fried. This story will serve as a springboard for young attendees to reflect on their own family traditions. Following the reading, children will engage in a creative activity where they will design a mini poster that represents their family traditions. This hands-on experience not only promotes artistic expression but also provides a meaningful way for children to delve into cultural heritage through the lens of storytelling.
Additionally, this event coincides with a significant milestone in local history, as it marks the anniversary of Stanley and Mildred Rosenbaum’s move into the iconic home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. This connection to the past adds a unique dimension to the day’s festivities.
The event is sponsored by the City of Florence Department of Arts and Museums and is completely free for the public to attend. In addition to this special program, regular tours of the FLW Rosenbaum House are offered at no charge, available from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
