On December 25, 2025, the Florence Police Department was called to the scene of a serious two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Florence Boulevard and Broadway Street, where injuries and reports of entrapment were noted. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a female driver along with a juvenile female passenger trapped inside one of the involved vehicles. Emergency responders worked swiftly to extricate both individuals from the wreckage, although one of them suffered significant injuries during the incident.
The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash was identified as 36-year-old Martin Jimenez Miranda, originally from Guatemala. During the investigation, officers observed signs of impairment, prompting a DUI inquiry. As a result, Miranda was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, and Driving Under the Influence. He has been processed at the Lauderdale County Detention Center, where his bond has been set at $8,000. However, Miranda remains in custody due to a hold placed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
