On Wednesday, the Florence Police Department announced a significant development in an ongoing investigation into a recent sexual offense. Authorities reported that a male victim came forward, alleging that he had been sexually assaulted while he was asleep. Following the investigation, the suspect was identified as 43-year-old Daniel Story, a resident of Florence.
In a decisive move, the Lauderdale County Grand Jury reviewed the evidence and issued an indictment against Story, formally charging him with first-degree sodomy. Law enforcement efforts led to Story’s arrest in Ohio, after which he was extradited back to Alabama. Currently, he is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center without the possibility of bond.
