Florence Resident Faces 465-Count Indictment for Child Pornography and Sexual Abuse Charges

A man from Florence, Kenneth Michael Mininger, has been the subject of a significant legal development regarding serious allegations of child pornography and sexual abuse. The Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office has decided not to pursue a 465-count indictment against him. This decision comes on the heels of Mininger’s plea in federal court, where he admitted guilt to two counts of producing child pornography on December 27, 2024. As a result of this plea, he was sentenced to an extensive 50 years in federal prison.

In addition to his prison term, federal court documents reveal that Mininger is required to pay $174,000 in reparations to 23 victims. This financial obligation is separate from his incarceration and underscores the gravity of his offenses. Following his sentencing, Mininger has indicated his intention to appeal the federal case, suggesting that he may contest the legal outcomes of his actions.

The Lauderdale County grand jury had previously indicted Mininger on a staggering array of charges, which included 232 counts related to the possession and production of child pornography, four counts of sexual abuse involving a child under the age of twelve, and two counts of first-degree sodomy. Law enforcement officials have stated that all identified victims in this case are local residents, highlighting the troubling nature of the allegations against him.
