Geri Lynn Thompson Bergeron, of Loretto, Tennessee, passed away at the age of 81, due to pneumonia, on May 14, 2024, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, to Mildred Virginia Prosser Thompson and Marvin Hubert Thompson, she was the eldest of eight siblings and a beacon of kindness in her community.
A proud graduate of Santa-Fe High School in Alachua, Florida, Lynn pursued her passions for literature and learning at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, majoring in library science and completed her degree at the University of North Alabama.
Her dedication to education shone brightly throughout her 25 years of service as a librarian within the Lawrence County Tennessee school system, where she was affectionately known as “Mrs. B”.
Lynn’s legacy is carried on by her loving daughter Anne Lisa Bergeron; her sisters Sarah Turley, Kristi Ketchum, Melissa Thompson, and Jennifer Thompson; sister-in-law Donna Thompson; and her cherished nieces and nephews. Her spirit will also be missed by her adored cat Lucy and her grand dogs and grand cats.
Preceding her in death were her parents Marvin and Mildred; her beloved husband Frederic Joseph Bergeron; siblings Jane, Rebecca, and Stephen; and brothers-in-law Roy Ketchum and John Turley.
Lynn’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew her. As we bid goodbye to a remarkable woman, we take solace in countless memories and lessons she imparted to us.
A memorial celebration will be scheduled at a later date due to illness in the family.
