Glenda Faye Thompson Dodd, aged 83, of Florence, Alabama, passed away on August 26, 2024, at Green Oaks Assisted Living. A dedicated member of the Laborers Local Sheffield for many years, Glenda Faye also served on the fire watch at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was an active member of the Petersville Church of Christ. In her retirement, she found joy in volunteering at ECM Hospital, where she made a positive impact on the lives of many. Additionally, Glenda Faye had a passion for baking, particularly wedding cakes, and enjoyed creating beautiful floral arrangements.
She leaves behind a loving family that includes her husband, Paul Dodd, and her step-son, Kelvin Dodd, along with his wife, Janelle. Her step-daughters, Mary Hazelbaker and her husband Jackie, and April Strait and her husband Bradley, also survive her. Glenda Faye is remembered fondly by her brothers, Harold Dean Thompson and Donald Thompson, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who cherished their MawMaw Faye deeply.
Glenda Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Dewey Thompson and Jessie Gertrude Gray Thompson. She also mourned the loss of her brothers: Charles, Russell, Thomas, and Robert Thompson, and her sisters, Louise Gist and Sue Darby.
Visitation for Glenda Faye will take place on Wednesday, August 28, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of the funeral home, with Nolan Burns and Adam Richardson officiating. She will be laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery.
