Grant Funds Awarded to Lewis County Government

In a recent announcement, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee revealed that Lewis County Government is set to receive a substantial boost in funding. The county has been granted $100,000 through the state’s “Broadband Ready Communities” program, along with an additional $1,596,114 through the “Connected Community Facilities” program.

This financial injection is earmarked for the renovation and expansion of the Lewis County Public Library and Archives facility. The primary objective is to enhance broadband accessibility for the residents of Lewis County. The proposed timeline for this ambitious project involves the selection of an architect and project manager by the summer months. Subsequently, all necessary plans and permits are expected to be in place by the fall, paving the way for construction to commence this winter.

The ultimate aim is to have the renovation and expansion project completed before December 31, 2025. This initiative is poised to significantly improve connectivity and access to vital resources for the Lewis County community, marking a significant step towards bridging the digital divide in the region.
