Gregory Lance Grigsby

Gregory Lance Grigsby, 66, of Killen, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on January 3, 2025. Born on May 29, 1958, in Florence, Alabama, Greg was a lifelong resident of the Shoals area, where he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Greg graduated from Rogers High School in 1976, where he was an avid trumpet player and a proud member of the Buccaneers in Blue band. His passion for music was evident throughout his high school years and remained a cherished part of his life.

Before graduation, Greg began his career at Custom Extrusion Tool and Die, dedicating 33 years to the company. During his time there, he formed lifelong friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues for his strong work ethic and camaraderie.

Above all, Greg cherished his family. He was married to his loving wife, Cathy Wallace Grigsby, for 36 years. He adored his grandchildren, who affectionately called him their “best friend,” and his face would light up whenever he was in their presence.

In his later years, Greg found solace and joy in playing his trumpet during the early morning hours on his porch, a testament to his enduring love for music. He also enjoyed sitting outside, watching sunsets over Shoals Creek, and capturing the beauty of nature through photos and videos, especially of his beloved ducks, Fred and Ethel.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Martha Grigsby; his granddaughter, Ella-Grace Daniel; his grandparents, Seaf and Maggie Olive and Morris and Jenny Grigsby; and a special brother-in-law, Rick Storey.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Wallace Grigsby; daughters, Lori Davis (Paul), Crystal Daniel (Landon), and Ashley Grigsby (Zach Harris); his cherished grandchildren, Baylee Davis, Parker Daniel, Graham Daniel, Gage Daniel, Halle Davis, Shelby Davis, Haven Daniel, and Blaze Grigsby; siblings, Brad Grigsby (Donna), Todd Grigsby (Lynn), and DeAnna Santowski (Jason); numerous nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law, Susie Storey; and his beloved Yorkshire Terrier, canine companion Brady Grigsby.
