Harlan Recognized as Cattleman of the Year

At the annual gathering of the Lawrence/Wayne County Cattlemen’s Association held on February 1, a significant honor was bestowed upon local cattleman Roy Harlan, who was recognized as the 2025 Cattleman of the Year. Harlan, who has deep roots in agriculture, has dedicated over four decades to the breeding and raising of Charolais cattle, a breed known for its distinctive characteristics and quality.

In addition to Harlan’s recognition, the evening also featured the announcement of the Cattleman’s Association Scholarship recipient. Lily Pope from Wayne County was awarded this prestigious scholarship, which will support her educational pursuits. Pope has plans to further her studies at the University of Tennessee, where she intends to major in agriculture, reflecting her commitment to the field and the future of farming.
