Hickman County Experiences 1.6-Magnitude Earthquake.

On Friday morning, a catastrophic explosion in Hickman County resulted in the tragic loss of 16 lives. The incident was significant enough to be detected as a 1.6-magnitude earthquake by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The explosion’s impact was felt over an extensive area, with an estimated radius of 250 kilometers.

In response to the situation, officials from both the Humphreys and Hickman County Emergency Management Agencies have announced that controlled detonations will continue at the site. Local authorities have committed to keeping the community informed by providing at least a 30-minute warning through social media channels prior to each detonation. As of Sunday morning, the Humphreys County Emergency Management Agency has scheduled one such blast for 8:25 a.m.
