Huntsville Police Department Shares Outcomes of Zero in the Zone Initiative

The Huntsville Police Department has released data indicating that from August 4 to August 29, the initial month of the school year, officers executed a total of 249 traffic stops in designated school zones. This effort is part of the department’s ongoing initiative known as Zero in the Zone, which aims to address a range of infractions committed by drivers in these critical areas.

As a result of these traffic stops, law enforcement issued 234 citations to drivers for various violations, in addition to providing 72 warnings. The department emphasizes the importance of following all regulations pertaining to school zones, urging motorists to comply with the rules to avoid receiving citations. The initiative underscores the commitment to ensuring the safety of students and pedestrians in these high-traffic areas.
