Individual Faces Charges in Florence Shooting Incident

On Sunday night, a tragic incident unfolded on Paul E. Johnson Drive, resulting in the death of a 28-year-old man from Florence. In connection with this shooting, a 27-year-old resident of Lauderdale County has been apprehended and is facing murder charges. The suspect, identified as DeKoven Melique Williams, was taken into custody in the early hours of Tuesday.

Court documents reveal that Williams had a recent history of legal troubles. Just weeks prior to this incident, he was charged with multiple offenses, including the violation of a protective order, interference with an emergency domestic violence call, and the act of strangling or suffocating a domestic abuse victim. Following his arrest on September 16, he was released on a bond set at $41,000 on September 26. However, as preparations were made for a hearing related to Aniah’s Law, Williams was booked into the Colbert County Jail without the opportunity to post bail.
