Investigation Underway Following Break-In at Forestry Office

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) is actively seeking assistance in identifying the individual or individuals responsible for a break-in at a Division of Forestry office in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The incident occurred during the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2025, between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. at the New Prospect office, situated at 57 Tower Road.

Surveillance footage captured the actions of a gloved and masked intruder who initially rummaged through compartments of a state-owned truck. The suspect then proceeded to sever the office’s phone lines before gaining entry through a side window. After stealing several items, the burglar exited through the back door. Among the stolen goods were a Stihl chainsaw, a Stihl backpack blower, an Ingersoll Rand air hammer, a DeWalt router, a DeWalt hammer drill, a DeWalt grease gun, a DeWalt 20V grinder, and a DeWalt 20V jigsaw.

When staff members arrived at the office later that morning, they discovered the break-in and promptly alerted both the Lawrence County Sheriff’s office and the TDA’s Agricultural Crime Unit (ACU). Investigators suspect that the thief had prior knowledge of the facility and its surroundings, as they avoided the main road, which ends at the property. Instead, it appears the suspect navigated through private lands, cornfields, and pastures to park behind the building.

Neighbors in the vicinity who may find any evidence related to this incident on or near their property are encouraged to reach out to the Agricultural Crime Unit. The TDA is urging anyone with information regarding this burglary to contact the ACU at 844-AG-CRIME (844-242-7463) or via email at [email protected]. Your assistance could be vital in solving this case.
