Late Monday evening, the Florence Police Department swiftly responded to reports of gunfire in the vicinity of Helton Drive and Hermitage Drive. Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a firearm and spent rounds in the parking lot of Southern Oaks Apartments. The victim, an 18-year-old male, was promptly taken to North Alabama Medical Center for treatment. Fortunately, his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, and he was later discharged.
