JD Lucas Butler

JD Lucas Butler, 87, of Iron City, TN, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at his home after a prolonged illness. He was a devoted deacon at Williams Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and retired from Murray Ohio. A native of Wayne County, TN, JD was known for his dedication to his church and community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mona Weaver Butler of Holly Creek, TN, and his children: Roger Butler (Donna), Barry Butler, and Annette Jones (Monroe), all of Holly Creek, TN. He is also survived by his brother, Doris Butler, and sister, Corene Gamble, both of Lawrenceburg, TN, as well as four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

JD was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Luanna Daniel Butler, his brother Alfred Butler, and his sisters: Viva Wallace, Pauline Stooksberry, Louise Wallace, Nadine Adams, Colene Willis, Robbie Smith, and Inell Short.

Funeral services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with Camryn Eaton and Greg Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Hollis Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Loretto Memorial Chapel.

Pallbearers will include Monroe Jones, Josh Butler, Jerry Butler, Dillon Turner, Tanner Jones, and Doug Lee, with A.C. Hunt and Andy Hunt serving as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Williams Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund.

JD Lucas Butler will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and community. May he rest in peace.
