Jerry Dwayne Gibbs, 76, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away on March 29, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Jerry was a dedicated educator, having taught at EO Coffman Middle School for 40 years and previously serving as a principal at Revilo Elementary School. He was also actively involved in coaching football, basketball, and little league baseball.
A man of faith and service, Jerry was a member of First United Methodist Church and was involved in various missions and community service projects, including the Loaves and Fishes Ministry food pantry. He also had a passion for history and books, which led him to enjoy many international trips. Jerry’s commitment to helping others continued even after his passing, as he was an organ donor.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Martha Jo Scott Gibbs; son, Jeff Gibbs; granddaughter, Lucy Gibbs; and brothers, Larry Gibbs and Gene Gibbs (Trena). He was preceded in death by his parents, Flournoy and Jewel Pepper Gibbs, as well as his brothers, Harold “Buddy” Gibbs and Steven Gibbs, and his sister, Carolyn Pulley.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church on April 5, 2025, with donations suggested to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at the church. Jerry’s impact on his community and his dedication to education and service will be remembered by all who knew him.
